While I'm not a fan of most of Sumerian Records lineup I have to give props to Ash Avildsen for doing something most people in the industry don't do. And that is not only express anger at music piracy but actually try and do something about it. You see a few days ago he went on Facebook and threw out a tirade about people leaking the new Born of Osiris album. You can get the full details over at HBIH. But instead of just throwing a temper tantrum as misguided as it sounds like it is Ash is actually opening a new record store in L.A. And not just any record store but he's got some ambitious ideas for it as well. Check out the details here.
As I said I'm not a fan of the bands involved in this grand opening but hopefully this is something that other label owners attempt to do, because lets face it. CD sales are down partly because some albums are only available in digital format and can't be found at retailers.Period. So the only choice is to go digital. Especially in the metal circles so if there are more stores to go to and actually browse I'm willing to bet metal fans will actually go back to the old days of buying up stacks of cd's and vinyl. Provided they're priced reasonably.Let's hope so.

God Dethroned Is Calling it Quits
I've seen this band mentioned quite a bit over the years but have never listened to much. But I'm sure there are people that have enjoyed their brand of death metal so here is the farewell quote from founder Henri Sattler.
"2011 is GOD DETHRONED's final year in existence.
"We could have spent another year in a tour bus because the amount of offers was endless, but I just don't feel like touring anymore.
"People told me to take a break for a year or maybe two, but as I'm an 'all-or-nothing-at-all' type of person, I decided to call it quits.
"Not immediately, but in December of this year we will definitely play our last show. That's gonna be at the Eindhoven Metal Meeting in Holland.
"I'm very proud of what we achieved with the band, but the time has come for new challenges.
"I would like to thank all of our fans for their support for all these years."
So there you have it. They released an album last November and this tour is not only in support of but apparently now a farewell tour. Going over the Wikipedia article on them I can say I'd be pretty tired of having to revamp and revive the band over and over again to and then endure the months of touring. Good luck to the guys on their future endeavors.

Goodbye Guitar Hero. It Was Fun while It Lasted
I've probably violated all kinds of copyright laws with that picture. Oh well. Yes, it was announced today that the Guitar Hero series is being discontinued. Though I haven't played the games in a long time because Sony were a bunch of fucking pricks that wouldn't make most PS3's backwards compatible I had a blast playing those games. Here are the questions that should be asked in the wake of the disappearance of Guitar Hero.
Are kids going to continue to play Rock Band? Are kids going going to continue to pick up real instruments and learn to play them? Will this hurt the hard rock and metal community and by how much? How will Dragonforce go on?
All I ask for then is to make all of the versions of the original series be available one last time for the PS3 and we can conclude our business together over the years.

Great News Everybody! Bret Michaels Will Continue to Live! No Word on His Bandanna Though.
I was hoping Acacia was going to write this up seeing as she's a fan and supposed to be the hair band correspondent or something but oh well. Guess I'll be the one to pass on the news.
Bret Michaels who is a diabetic and has recently had a brain aneuryism among other things was really diagnosed with a hole in his heart and went into surgery. He's in recovery and according to CNN his doctors have said they did not botch the surgery. Huzzah!. Thank god for that because his Camaro at auction just went for a 200,000 dollars so we wouldn't want that to go waste. Not to mention another season of crappy reality shows and more pseudo country rock albums of the shittiest order. So congrats Bret on still being around to rock the cougar's worlds!
Poor Little Glee, Slash is Too Cool For You
This is some funny stuff. Everybody has heard of the television show Glee right? The show that has about 10 minutes of thin plot and the rest of the time does exact replicas of famous songs and videos? Like a weekly High School Musical just with less originality.
It seems they approached Slash to do some Guns n' Roses covers for the show and Slash promptly told them to go fuck themselves. Here is the excerpt I found from Blabbermouth.
Slash told Entertainment Weekly he would not like to see "Glee" do a GUNS-themed episode or even have the cast perform one GUNS song. Slash explained, "We got asked about that once already but it got turned down. In the current climate of what's going on in entertainment these days, I try to be more optimistic than negative because it's really easy to get negative about it, but I draw the line at 'Glee'."
Slash added, "'Glee' is worse than 'Grease' and 'Grease' is bad enough . . . Actually, I look at 'Grease' now and think: Between 'High School Musical' and 'Glee', 'Grease' was a brilliant work of art."
Check out the response from Glee creator Ryan Murphy in Rolling Stone after the jump.
"Usually I find that people who make those comments, their careers are over; they’re uneducated and quite stupid," Murphy said.
Really Ryan? Based on that article do you act like a spoiled bitch everytime someone tells you no? What an ignorant ass you are. Slash will most likely be around long after your trendy show is outgrown. You know what would be cool, is if Glee did a cover of Kids Bop. It's not too much of a stretch. If I was Slash I wouldn't want rich little hipster kids bastardizing songs that were not intended for their demographic either.

I might have to hit this thing up then if I can make there alive(those that live out here know what I'm talking about).

The Big Four Announcement........
....is a big letdown. Yes you are reading that poster right. After an all day build yesterday up and excitement over what 8 a.m. would bring and after releasing snippets of information throughout the day, the Big Four is playing one godamn show in the U.S. In the fucking desert. Because your fucking prayers demands were answered. Yes you Mr. car mechanic in Rhode Island. And you Mr. farmer in Missouri. And while I too live in California, it's still 800 fucking miles away from me so it might as well be in another state. Indio,California is in the Coachella Valley probably 40 miles southeast of Palm Springs. I guess I shouldn't complain to much though. I got the second most amount of traffic on the site ever thanks to people scouring the internets looking for news.
Tickets go on sale on the 28th of January. But cheer up people. I bet you'll get to watch the show on closed circuit screens in a arena near you. That should count for something right? Right?

Winds of Plague keyboardists Like to Show their Mammaries
Winds of Plague. The name is synonymous with douchebag metal/death/core music. It's also apparently synonymous with having keyboard players that like to show their tits.I guess if you can tell your scene is dying a slow death you do whatever it takes to get your name out there. Well it works because I will now show you both pics and totally disregard anything about their 'music'. Alana is on the banner and will be up next and then you can see previous keyboardist Kristin Randall if you haven't already. After the jump and NSFW.
I eagerly await the cease and desist to pull them down so have fun. Hope this makes up for the Jesse James Dupree pic. Thanks Metalsucks.

How To Stave Off An Attack By a Pack of Wolves: Play Creed.
This story started out as a kid being attacked by wolves played Megadeth on his boombox or something and made them run away. No word was given on what song. Now it turns out the story is even more lame. First of all, it wasn't Megadeth it was Creed the kid was playing. And now it wasn't even an attack. The kid was walking home somewhere in Norway and a pack of 4 wolves came into his path so he took out his headphones and cranked the radio up. And they trotted away. So not even a snarl it was just happenstance. No indication if the wolves were even aggressive or threatening. So the moral of the story is that wolves think you're a douchebag for listening to Creed and will leave you alone. This story was better when the stupid kid didn't correct people on what he was listening to. Slow news days suck.
