Why I'm unqualified to have a blog...

Actually for my first post on the new and marginally improved page, I'll just give some background on my outlook on metal music, what bands I like, and how I started listening in the first place. I'm fully aware I'll probably be a called a poseur but chances are that my tastes are probably better then yours anyway so there ya go.

Christmas '82 I got my first ever radio and after listening to country music through my parents, this was probably one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. Ever. After turning the dial and landing on a local now defunct station KRQR I was blown away how much rock music grabbed me and I couldn't stop listening. Much to my parents chagrin my appetite for this style of music left me with an appetite for even more and heavier stuff. Goodbye Conway Twitty, Ronnie Milsap, and Loretta Lynn hello Def Leppard, Dio, and Judas Priest.

Motley Crue's Shout at the Devil poster on my wall, Van Halen's "Running with the Devil" playing on the radio all led my parents to believe that I was going to turn into some robed pyschopath that sacrificed frogs and prayed to Beelzebub.

Well 26 years later and I have yet to kill a frog(I'm actually afraid of them, how metal \m/)or any human beings and I don't pray to anything because I'm an agnostic like that. I'm married with 2 kids and have a 9-5 job, and still listen to That Devil Music. I've strayed over the years but have always managed to come back. And each time I've been away the genre seems to get more complex, engaging, brutal, every time. And I love it.

Bands I'm currently into to name a few:
Nevermore
Dream Theatre
Testament
Battlelore(Cheesy name and look but I love the music)
Ayreon
Slayer
Overkill
Arch Enemy
So yeah prog metal, thrash, fantasy, pretty eclectic range.

So I'll be posting band opinions, cd reviews, the crappiness of the music industry and who's to blame and other such stuff. So sit back, strap on your neck brace, and prepare to mock me and my opinions.
