Smoking a cigarette with those oversized latex gloves is funnier then anything else in this interview. Hell the banner is even funnier. I can answer the Gwar/Lordi difference much better I think.
Gwar have been around alot longer and are based off the humorous idea that they come from space to destroy human beings and to dive into all of the debauchery they can while doing so. Lordi is a hard rock band influenced by Kiss and a love of horror movies. Gwar's stage shows are over the top comedy punk/hardcore concerts full of props and social commentary. Lordi gets up there in costume and just plays their songs.
But Lordi is right. I wouldn't want to pay to see a show with guys playing the crappy rock songs they play either out of costume. Nice to know there is some element of truth in that they need the costumes to achieve any sort of success.

Lordi 's Interviews Are Always Awkward. Still Clueless About Gwar.

Allow myself to introduce myself...

Here is my first attempt at blogging. I'm sure, down the road, as I get more and more involved with this blog-site, the posting's will look better and better. I wish I could say the same thing about the content, but that's something I can't promise..
Heavy Metal is one of the most amazing and creative genres of music out there, and I'm honoured that Mr. Liz has asked me to share my thoughts about it and the people and bands that make that music. I've been a fan of TDM (That Devil Music) for a long time, and it's going to sound kinda cheesy, but I really do get a lot of great info from here, so it's great to have the ability to share with you all anything that happens to come to my ears.
Just to give you guys an idea of what I'm into, even though I'm a fan of SO many bands and musicians, I've decided to post a couple of my fav's for you.
Rock on!

Hallows Eve Spotlight 2 The Return - Lordi

So I'm really behind on what I promised to do here. Colds and other real life issues had an annoying way of interfering with my work here so to get back on track I thought I'd focus on a band that really fits the Halloween mold to the T. That band is Lordi.
This group is out of Finland and heavily influenced by Kiss and Alice Cooper to name a few. I'm really new to them and decided to check them out only after seeing multiple posts about them on Blabbermouth. I'm glad I did. I love me some theatrics in rock and metal and these guys( and a gal) don't disaapoint. Their stage makeup is amazing, probably better then some theatrical films I've seen but unlike Gwar(who Mr. Lordi states knew nothing about when he devised this concept)can put together a good old fashioned hard rock tune bordering on metal. Their overall theme is about monsters and horror films but with alot of tongue in cheek mixed in. And that's cool with me, I like Type O Negative, Ugly Kid Joe, M.O.D, Pyschostick and pretty much any kind of band that doesn't take itself too seriously.Musically they remind me of a few bands from the 80's like Accept,Kix,and Krokus in their song structures.
Well without further ado I'll now post a series of videos they have put out, watch them with the light on....don't say I didn't warn you. Muahaha...cough...wheeze..muahaaha.
This song is probably the most catchy of them all.
Well would you?
So emdedding on Youtube is disabled. Fine, Google will hook me up. Biggest hit by Lordi so far I believe.
Here's an ode to the Evil Dead series.
From the new album Deadache due out in the U.S Oct. 28th.
So there you have it, hopefully this will be enough to get more people to check them out. I'll wrap it up with this trailer from a movie Lordi is supposedly putting out with them as the villains. Phantom of the Park with a better budget I think.Even if this movie is crap the effort they put into the appearance on stage deserves to be on film too.

Rogues Gallery The Sequel
So I was going over my older posts and realized on the original Rogues Gallery post that there were a few groups that I have checked out since then that I need to add. So without further ado here's some more stuff. Click on the band name or banner if one is available to check them out.
Scar Symmetry : This band balances alot of cool elements such as death grunts, clean vocals, technical playing, and orchestration. They're being dubbed as a melodic death metal group though I really don't see it. Christian Alvestam is an amazing vocalist with a huge range. However he has since parted ways with them so it will be interesting to see who they pick up in his stead and if they can continue to be good.
Katatonia : Another Swedish band that began as a doom metal outfit with growling. Jonas Renske blew his voice out though and after recovering these guys changed their sound to a more atmospheric dark sound with clean vocals. Think Opeth's Damnation album but heavier. I really dig their stuff.
Lordi : Time for the token cheesy band. These guys are an old monster movie come to life. Think Gwar but with a bit more talent. If you take away the makeup and other stuff their sound is very reminiscent of the 80's gruff voiced bands like Accept and Krokus. I think they're great but yeah definitely cheesy:)
Testament : Damn...this is thrash at it's finest. These guys have been around a long time with the 90's seeing the bulk of their work. Every style they have tackled has been excellant whether it be thrash , death, melodic. Alex Skolnick is back with them and Chuck Billy survived a cancer scare and the results of these events of late translates into a powerful cd. Check it out.
Tool : These guys were what I hung onto in the 90's when it seemed metal was dying. Progressive without a doubt. Dark and atmospheric on every album with the distinct tone of down tuned guitars and the bass featured prominently. This is not fast food music, you really have to sit and digest everything with every song. I lost track of them after Aenima but went back and checked out what I missed and it was still good stuff.
So there ya go, just a few more bands I've been listening to alot of lately, some old school, some new school, and a bit of cheese.
