Nergal's Going to Live!

So after undergoing successful bone marrow treatment, Nergal was sent home to recover. No nookie for Sir Nergal of Behemoth and Doda though because due to cold temperatures and a weakened state he can't have visitors for a couple of weeks to prevent getting an infection. But hey,as he put it "I came out of this victorious". Good for him. Maybe now when he does get around to making records again he will ditch the voice processor thing he uses and I can actual start liking his vocals. The rest of Nergal's comments after the jump.

"Hey! What's up! At last – one could say. After almost half a year of treatment in various hospitals, several cycles of chemotherapy, irradiation and a bone marrow transplant, I have been finally released home in a pretty fuckin' good condition. I'm feeling ok, taking the intensity of treatment under consideration. That was not an easy period of my life, but, as I envisioned, I left the hospital victorious. I never considered any other options, but anyway, there were rough moments too… At this point I must express my thanks to the people who made all of those downs fairly bearable. My parents – thank you. You deserve a monument for all your love and patience. Dorotka, thank you for your heroic attitude, love and support. I can't forget Doda's fans, who made a gigantic effort for me and other ill people. You rule! Absolutely fantastic Behemoth fans from all over the world were organizing various events to make people aware of what leukemia is. To all of you out there - my deepest respect! Thank you – the real heroes - Prof. Hellmann, Dr. Piekarska, Dr. Knopinska, Doc. Giebel, Prof. HoĊ‚owiecki and all the nurses of the hematology division of the Medical Academy in Gdansk and the Oncology Clinic in Gliwice for all the professionalism and great hearts. My band mates for all the friendship and never-ending support. All my friends for sticking to me throughout the whole period of my illness. The list is too long to mention you all, but remember, you have special place in my heart."

Nergal will now go through a recovery which will last for several months. During this time he will stay in his flat in one of the Gdansk's districts.

"Although the whole treatment went really good, as well as the bone marrow transplant and the post-transplant period, the next several months is the time when I must really take care of myself. Of course I will have plenty of time to recover, think about the strategy and my return to the stage – which approaches imminently (laughs). First of all however I must rebuild my physical condition… apart from that, I hunger for playing, I haven't been playing the guitar for a half of year now! Really much to catch up, but also a huge motivation and a desire to work again at the same time. This year will be a really important one for me and the band!"

Nergal may have defeated Leukemia

Photobucket

As has been detailed here and hundreds of other sites Nergal of Behemoth was diagnosed with leukemia back in August. This was at a time when the metal community was already being hit with band news after bad news. From the Action News Desk of Blabbermouth:

According to reports in the Polish media, Adam "Nergal" Darski, the 33-year-old leukemia-stricken guitarist/vocalist of the Polish extreme metal act BEHEMOTH, underwent a bone marrow transplant procedure earlier tonight, having found a donor that was a genetic match. He will spend the next four weeks in an isolation room at the hematology division of Uniwersyteckie Centrum Kliniczne (UCK) in Gdansk to avoid any infection while his immune system is low.

So this is a good way to end a year that saw alot of tragedy. Before you know it Behemoth will be back out there playing crushing, brutal, incoherent and voice processed songs about how much religion sucks.Cheers!

Nergal has the big C and it's not Christianity

Photobucket

I saw this on Blabbermouth but here is the link to that actual release.

So pretty bad news for the guy. That's one of the things I dread is what if I have a condition that I didn't think was bad enough to get checked out and then finally do and it becomes something like this. Again I'm not a big fan of Behemoth but something like this in a year of bad news for the metal world is almost too much to take. Here's to hoping that Nergal does get a bone marrow transplant and the leukemia goes back into remission.

Stop with the mortality this year.

Photobucket

First there was this bit of news at Blabbermouth about Phil Kennemore being diagnosed with cancer. I grew up with Y&T during their heyday and while not a huge fan I liked quite a few tracks and Phil was always there with the basslines. He seems pretty positive in the news article so hopefully cancer won't take him like it did Dio but he's also not saying what kind of cancer it is.

Then comes this news from the Behemoth camp. Now I'm not a fan at all of Behemoth because I hate the vocal style of Nergal with the guttural computer processed vocals. But I do acknowledge and respect Behemoth's contribution to metal. He's not saying it's leukemia or anything but it does sound grim.

What is it with this year and all of the health issues? It's like some higher power just decided this year it was going to punish these guys and the fans by laying some people low and just flat out taking others. This year can't end soon enough because at this rate are we even going to have any musicians left? Stop already fate. Here is to a quick and speedy recovery to both Phil and Nergal.
