Once again, Within Temptation displays how they have their finger on the pulse of what's truly metal. Recently they shared with us their newest desktop wallpaper in support of their upcoming concept album Unforgiving.

If you want this sexy beast on your desktop then head to their site and look for it.. Though I can't see why you'd want to. No one should like a band enough to want some cranky old bat on their computer monitor.
The new video for the song 'Faster' released today at this location and because web server's have a tendency to crash when a ton of people go to watch, I have taken the liberty of uploading the video to Youtube. You're welcome. The song is not bad for a hard rock song and it's clear that is WT's direction. It has alot of appeal to the casual music listeners without a doubt. So enjoy the new video and look for the album to release in March via Roadrunner.
So the last song that got released was not supposed to be indicative of the new album. I call shenanigans. Looks like WT is yet another gothic metal band that has turned into goth rock. Here is the new song that was released called 'Faster'. So many jokes can be made about this but I'm to the point I don't care. Maybe one of you will get excited about this.
Ok, I'm no art expert. I either like it or I don't. In this case of Within Temptation's cover reveal, not only do I not like it, I'm going to bitch about it. First of all the first thing that struck me is the text. A new listener is going to think the band's name is The Unforgiving and the album is called Within Temptation based on the difference in font size and positioning of the text. The art itself makes this look like its some tween crime drama novel. If it's supposed to be a soundtrack to a comic book and the cover is supposed to give clues to the concept, I already don't give a fuck about this album. There doesn't appear to be anything original in this thing at all.
Creepy mysterious old person: Check
Sexy main character with a gun: Check
Asian persuasion sidekick: Check
Kids in trouble: Check
Handsome male love interest also with a gun: Check
Cars and people running for their life: Check
Oh that explains it. WT commissioned the same guy that wrote the script for Bloodrayne to do this. See what happens when you work for Uwe Boll? You get stuck writing crappy concepts for Dutch bands that overextend themselves into regions they should just leave alone.
The album cover should have had the bands name on top, Sharon Den Adel dressed like this character in the middle in a alley or something and the album name on the bottom or in a corner somewhere. We get its based off a comic book. One that even rabid comic/metal fans are probably going to pass on.
Disturbing in that it's boring and might be reflective of the new album. Almost any hint of metal has been stripped away and what we're left with is a Dutch pop song. Kind of like a band that has been away for 5 years and got older and started having kids. Oh wait.
The new album is supposed to be a concept based on a comic book they're involved with or something like that. This video is basically a trailer for a Dutch movie inspired by the Natalie Holloway disappearance in Aruba. The song and this movie are made for each other because I yawned once watching the vid and then again listening to the song. Let's hope The Unforgiving isn't the first disappointment of the year when it releases in March. Here is the video.
I get that Sharon Den Adel is a fantastic looking woman. I would probably want to do the vertical tango with her myself on those cold Danish nights.But her girl parts must be like a Venus flytrap that shirks the notion of wearing protection and just getting right down to business. To the detriment of the band. According to Blabbermouth this morning,Sharon and Robert are expecting a 3rd child. Shocking, this was unplanned,however good news kiddies the new album is still scheduled to be released in March. Just don't expect a tour because, well, she's going to be pregnant.
I would bolt so far from this band if I wasn't Robert.In this day and age how are you supposed to make any money when two band members are nailing each other all the time and your replacement is being born?Not to mention the gothic symphonic scene has come and gone since the Heart of Everything was released......in 2007. Well I hope the sex was good because I predict a who gives a fuck when the album gets released next year. The good news is when Within Temptation eventually breaks up, Robert can be the stay at home Daddy while Sharon brings home the bacon with this type of music(After the jump)
By the way, she was pregnant with the 2nd kid during the filming of this video.Just saying.
