Skeletonwitch and 3 Inches of Blood are Touring Together. But Not in California.

Yep. Two of my favorite recent bands are touring together but the Midwest and back east get the pleasure of this pairing. 3 Inches of Blood just rolled through here with Holy Grail and a bunch of other bands which I wanted to see but if this had been a California thing I'd be all over it. Oh well, my loss is your gain if you live in those regions. Dates after the jump you lucky bastards.

Skeletonwitch to release a limited edition vinyl. Antlers not included.

Photobucket

The nice, cleancut boys from Ohio have finally wrapped up touring. I'm kidding of course about the clean cut part. But here is the quote from Scott Hedrick on what the band has got planned for next year.

"A huge thank you to the bands, the fans, and everyone else involved in the tour -- except that one promoter; fuck you, dude! Kidding! Anyway, we had a fucking blast as usual. It's hard not to when you're traveling around the country with your best friends and your job is to party and shred.

'When we wake up from the impending holiday blackout, we'll be devoting all of our time finishing the next record. So keep an eye out: as the writing process continues, we'll probably book a few dates and debut some new material. Thanks to everyone who supported us in 2010. It's been a great year! Cheers and beers!"
In the meantime Skeletonwitch will be releasing a limited edition...here let Mark Viera of Prosthetic Records give you the 411:
Prosthetic Records has launched the pre-order for the second chapter of a 7" trilogy; the first installment was released in November and has sold out.
Part II, which will be on green vinyl, will feature a recently re-recorded version of "The Skullsplitter," a track that originally appeared on the band's self-released debut album "At One With The Shadows." The B-side, meanwhile, is "No Rest For The Dead," a song recorded with legendary producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden, High On Fire) during the "Breathing The Fire" sessions (and, coincidentally, also a re-working of a song from "At One With The Shadows"). This version of "No Rest..." was originally used as the iTunes bonus track for "Breathing The Fire," and has never been released in a physical format until now. This is limited to 500 copies and will not be repressed! Order yours now: http://ht.ly/3shCa

I seriously dig this band though I won't be getting any vinyls since I don't have a record player. But if any of you are fans and want to be a part of an elite 500 people then head over to that link and gets yours.

Skeletonwitch's new video is just in time for Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year and though September is not quite finished one of my favorite new bands has released a video that is perfect to kick off the month with spooky goodness.Skeletonwitch released a video for the song Bringers of Death which apparently is a B-side for their first album Beyond the Permafrost. Well fantastic now I have to find an import copy of that cd but I digress. If you like Zombie Apocalyses,Plush toy gore, and the Road Warrior then this video is right up your alley.

Oh and the song is pretty nifty too.Check out the video after the jump.

Blackened thrash? Yes Please.

Well all is not lost for posts related to Halloween. It's a skeleton...no...it's a witch, it's Skeletonwitch! This band kicks all kinds of ass. I'm listening to their newest release Breathing the Fire as I'm typing this and I must say these guys studied up on all forms of extreme metal and created something of their own.

You want short fast melodic thrash riffs? Check.
You want Black vocals or death growls? Check coz Chance Garnette can bring either.
You want brutal satanic or gruesome lyrics? Check.

Points scored for left handed guitar shredding as I play left handed myself.

As far as this album is concerned it's not too much a departure from Beyond the Permafrost other then there are a few slower mid tempo parts. If you enjoyed Permafrost you'll like this. The only negatives I can see is the production is not quite as good as far as mixing. The vocals tend to get lost in the middle of the pummeling music. I also thought the songs could spare to be a tad longer. It reminds me of the old days of Slayer with the 2 and a half to 3 minute long songs. Here you really get into these tracks and then they abruptly end and move to the next.

But really it's all nitpicky stuff because overall this band is a refreshing gem in the midst of too many hardcore clones. Check them out here while you're peeking at the brand new video off Breathing the Fire called "Repulsion Salvation".
