A moment of silence...

for the passing of Richard Wright, 65. Richard is one of the founding members of Pink Floyd. Yeah I know this is a metal themed site, however Pink Floyd's influence does reach to this side of rock.

Listen to Operation Mindcrime by Queensryche or Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater to get the comparisons to the Wall. Pink Floyd was originally a pyschedelic blues band in the 60's that morphed into a bluesy ambient rock band starting with Dark Side of the Moon which to date has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.

Richard Wright contributed songwriting credits to some of the tunes on these albums and they were good ones. With his passing it makes it even more impossible for a Pink Floyd reunion. I had the opportunity to see Pink Floyd live in 1994 for the Division Bell tour and it was an amazing show.

So pop in a Floyd cd and appreciate their inspiring of some of the bands you may consider your favorites. It's a fitting tribute.

Here's the article.
