Priest bashing time again

Blabbermouth has some sort of love affair with Judas Priest. At least daily there is some sort of post with some band member gushing over current tour happenings or some such nonsense.
Currently they're on the road celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of British Steel. That's cool. I have no problems with that as British Steel is one of my favorite albums by them. What I have a problem with is the quotes being made by Tipton or Halford or Downing.
Case in point. In a interview with something called Noisecreep, Halford had this to say "In today's economy, all artists have to think of something to do differently. We decided that this would be a great opportunity to do something that PRIEST has never done before, which is to play an album in its entirety. The band and the name 'JUDAS PRIEST' have both been around since 1969, so it is our fortieth anniversary, too. We seem to be in a constant celebration mode!"

Again like I stated a long time ago, this is Judas Priest following a trend and not starting a new one. Testament has already played a couple of their album in their entirety. Dream Theater has played other band's albums in their entirety. W.A.S.P. did Crimson Idol in it's entirety. Priest are not trailblazers. Stop making it always sound like they are Mr. Halford and the media.

Secondly, if Judas Priest is in such celebration mode why does every recent concert vid I've seen lately have Rob Halford either hunched over like he's going to puke or wandering around like it's still a sound check. Interact with the crowd for fuck's sake. And this isn't recent by him either. I saw him solo open for Queensryche and Maiden in 2000 and his stage presence was the same then too. Here, check this one out.

What the hell. That song is a godamn anthem meant for stadium crowds to sing along with the frontman as ring leader. What is the shuffling around looking down shit that Rob's doing? Turn around, open your eyes, and sing to your audience. The only one playing this song the way it was meant to be played in front of an audience is Scott Travis who was probably in high school when this album came out.

And this is the kind of shit I see with every concert vid. And they're talking about bringing Nostradamus to life on stage down the road. That cd is boring as shit as it is now you want to bring your special brand of stage presence to that album? Pyro and costumes and orchestra and a frontman who acts like someone with stagefright, too afraid to look at the crowd. Yeah that's a recipe for fail.

Let's go back in time when Priest was actually worth a damn, shall we?

Also check out the comments sections for these vids. It's baffling to me how blind and sheeplike people can be. Baaa motherfuckers baaaa.

I just call it as I see it. You're free to like them and be a diehard fan, I'm free to be a former diehard fan that woke up. Tell ya what, here's my compromise.

1. Ac/DC did suck for awhile. I'm a fan for the Bon Scott era AC/DC more then the Brian Johnson era. Brian's voice until they took a long break was getting worse and worse with each album and tour. Would I like to go see a show? Yes. Do I like all of their albums? No.
2.Steven Tyler was trying to entertain the crowd while the sound equipment was being fixed. He wasn't watching where he was going and fell off the stage. That kind of stuff happens alot.At his age he's lucky he just broke his shoulder and not worse.
3.You're right, numerous bands with cookie monster vocals and death metal grunts are garbage. I like the bands that add something new and make it interesting.

How's that?:P

1) ALL OF AC/DC'S SONGS SOUND THE SAME. THERE IS NEVER ANY CHANGE. RADIO FUCKED IT UP FOR THESE GUYS ONLY PLAYING 2 OR 3 SONGS ALL THE TIME. TO ME, THERE IS NO ORIGINALITY, WHICH IS WHY, TO ME, THEY SUCK, AND WILL ALWAYS SUCK...

2) SAME FOR AEROSMITH...TOO MUCH TOURING, NO RECORDING...

3) CALLING IT LIKE YOU SEE IT WITH PRIEST IS YOUR PEROGATIVE. BASHING THEM OVER THE WAY HALFORD STANDS WHEN HE SINGS IS A LITTLE STRANGE TO ME WITH THE HISTORY OF THE BAND. BECAUSE HALFORD DOES SOMETHING DIFFERENT, YOU DONT LIKE IT. WHAT ABOUT BRIAN JOHNSON WHO RUNS AROUND THE STAGE BACK AND FORTH ALL THE TIME? OR BRUCE DICKINSON FOR THAT MATTER...THERE ARE PREFERENCES FOR THESE SINGERS AND THEY DO WHAT THEY DO TO ENTERTAIN THE AUDIENCE...NOW, YOU WANT TO TALK REAL MUSIC? BULLET BOYS? ENUFFS NUFF? SLAUGHTER? I AM ALL EARS (YEAR RIGHT)...

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, IT'S NICE TO HAVE A FRIEND TO TALK ABOUT METAL. GOOD AND BAD.

So you honestly think Halford's mannerisms of late on stage is good stage presence? Really? Your examples of Brian Johnson and Bruce Dickinson are actually making my point about Halford. Yes, they run around all the time and interact with the crowd and get them fired up. And they've done it for years. That's what front men are supposed to do. Rob Halford did to at one point and then for some reason his interaction with the crowd dropped off the radar over the past few years.

Does he have back and/or neck problems? It would make sense if he did but no one in the Priest camp has ever said anything along those lines. You find it strange I talk about he stands( an oversimplification of my point by the way). I find it strange that he acts like someone up there doing karaoke and afraid to face the crowd for any length of time or at all.

But yeah I love a healthy debate when it comes to metal music:)

YOU EVER NOTICE WHEN SINGER LIKE DICKINSON OR JOHNSON RUN AROUND WHAT IT DOES TO THEIR SINGING ABILITY? THEY GET OUT OF BREATH AND THE SONGS SOUND LIKE SHIT. BOTTOM LINE IS PRIEST IS A GREAT GROUP, WILL ALWAYS BE A GREAT GROUP, AND I WOULD SEE THEM ANYTIME, STANDING AND SINGING OR RUNNING AROUND ON STAGE SINGING. SO THAT'S THE SHORT AND LONG OF IT..KEEP THE BLOGS COMING, ITS FUN CHATTING WITH YOU ON TOPICS
