Before Christmas tunes were taken over by the guitars of TSO, there was a guy named Gary Hoey who was a staple every holiday season with his instrumental interpretations of holiday classics. He sort of first made a name for himself by covering Hocus Pocus by the Focus(ooo nifty rhyming). But then really took off with his cover of "You're a mean one Mr. Grinch". But then TSO took off and Mr. Hoey was forgotten for the most part.
If you're tired of the same Manheim Steamroller renditions of Christmas tunes I'd recommend checking his albums out here. He mixes a myriad of differant styles from blues, to country, to rock, to even a bit of metal.
Here is a taste with a vid for the afore mentioned Mr. Grinch.
