Embarassing Metal Moments

OK...Rob's admission that he likes Dimmu Borgir inspires me to post on my favorite ridiculous metal band...anathema to the troo blue kult scene: Yep...Cradle of Filth.

In between listening to the dour meanderings of Enlaved and old Emperor and the pomposity of Bathory...sometimes a little bizarreness is a nice break.

I like the symphonic over the top synths, the blast beats, the screeching, and especially the female vocal parts. Plus: the album Midian has Pinhead (Doug Bradley) narrating! What more can you ask for?

Now...I know they are all about shocking the kiddies and ridiculous themed merchandise and the music can be a little formulaic...but the energy level is undeniable, they try to be ambitious in their lyrical theme development, and there can be a lot of interesting musical diversity in the better albums.

The newest album, Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa, does drag on for about four tracks too long (but the iTunes version has a hilarious video!) but Damnation and a Day, Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder, and Midian rock, in my humble ranting opinion.

So...readers out there...what are your favorite embarassing metal bands? Be honest!

Hey! I'm not embarrassed that I like Dimmu Borgir! If I was to be embarrassed it would probably be the fact that I liked Dragonforce:P

Someone like's Clive Barker.. Though the Doug Bradley (Pinhead from Hellraiser) doesn't quite go with the Midian (mystical name of the home of the Nightbreed)...

I guess it's just as a good a choice as the Lord of the Rings shit.. Though they should stick with one storyline.
